Project 10

Hey there! It's been ages since I last wrote anything on here and I am going to attempt to write regularly now so Project  10 is my first attempt.

You may be wondering what 'Project 10' is, well it basically is a journey  to transformation where you accept a challenge to loose 10lbs in 90 days  and challenge others to do same, for every 10lbs lost, you can win money and help a child in need. So starting Monday the 15th of September I will be joining a few other people to start this journey into transformation. Apart from the desire to drop a a few  dress sizes by Christmas and lead a much healthier lifestyle, I accepted  this challenge because I will like to help a child in need. So to help me on this journey I have received the transformation kit from my coach Sheun  which contains 60 servings of  nutritional shakes to replace 2 meals a day. Ouch that's going to be  really haarrrrrd. That's why its a challenge, so I am going to give it my all.

Anyways keep your eyes peeled on here for all the juicy details on this transformation journey and watch out ass you could be the next one I am challenging hahahha

Been a while

Its been a while since I last blogged not because of lack of what to say, but working full time, being a full time mum to 17 month old twins and an 8 year old, and of course a wife can be quite demanding.

Since going back to work after maternity last September, it has been one thing or the other, from struggling to fit back into work, struggling to keep and maintain the home front, struggling to maintain friendships to struggling to keeping church commitments.

At a point, I just felt like quitting it all as I am sure most of us have contemplated at one time or the other. I just wasnt coping well at all and it was begining to affect everything that I did. I was very tired(such that my son always used to say, 'mum you look tired), I was weary, frustrated, feeling quite inadequate and started to see myself less than how God sees me. I became so hard on myself as I wasnt giving my best. But in the midst of this all God had a plan.

In February of 2012, we had a prophetic conference in my church and during the ministrations, everyone was queuing up to receive words of prophesies from the different prophets who had come to minister. The queues were quite long for this particular prophet who I wanted to hear a word from and I felt a bit discouraged but then I decided to hang on and wait.

Eventually it became my turn and as I stood there, she began to tell me how God asked her to say to me He loves me, He thinks I am special and very beautiful and that I seem to have forgotten who I am. As soon as I heard that I was like 'wow', but erm I was expecting to hear, 'you have been annointed for...........' lol. Anyways I decided to keep listening. Then she says, I see that you are tired and weary, but God is asking you to take time out and get refreshed, take care of yourself, she went on to say she could hear practical steps that the Lord was asking me to take,  she laughed and said this might sound a bit funny but 'God is saying go get a SPA, go get nice shoes, and get your hair done. She said I could say to you go on a retreat, get a 3 day fast, but that is not what I hear God saying now. You see when I heard those words, I didnt know whether to cry or laugh as I didnt think God would be interested in my hair, or shoes or getting a SPA treatment loool. She said quite a few other things, prayed for me and then I went back home.

I got back home and was gisting with my husband and guess what he said to me 'baby I am thinking of getting you a SPA'. My goodness when I heard those words, I just started screaming and laughing as I shared with him all the prophet had said. So then and there, we decided I was going to get my SPA treatment which by the way is a regular thing now lol.

God is interested in you my friend, all of you, not just spiritual you but all of you, He wants you well, happy, strong, alive, strengthened and so much more. If you need to take time out to just chilax, please do. He understands, He sees, He knows and He will strengthen you.

Since that experience, my daily routine has not changed but I am able to respond differently as I am refreshed physically and strengthened by His word daily.

I hope to blog more often now as God will enable me do.

So until next time, just want to encourage someone by saying 'Don't give up, don't quit' God has a plan in store'.

Much love

Relationships are Worth Restoring

I read this devotional by Rick Warren today and decided to share it on here. As I read this, I began to ponder how easy it is to discard a relationship whenever there's a misunderstanding or a disagreement. I recently had a misunderstanding with a friend that could have led to our relationship being discarded but thank God we both resolved our issues and fellowship was restored. I pray as you read this you will discover the secrets for preserving and restoring relationships.

'Relationships are always worth restoring'.

Life is all about learning how to love, and God wants us to value relationships and make every effort to maintain them instead of discarding them whenever there is a rift, a hurt or a conflict. The Apostle Paul taught that our ability to get along with others is a mark of spiritual maturity. Since Christ wants his family to be known for our love for each other, broken fellowship is a disgraceful testimony to unbelievers. This is why Paul was so embarrassed that the members of the church in Corinth were splitting into warring factions and even taking each other to court.

He wrote, "Shame on you! Surely there is at least one wise person in your fellowship who can settle a dispute between fellow Christians." (1 Corinthians 6:5 TEV) He was shocked that no one in the church was mature enough to resolve the conflict. If you want God's blessing on your life and you want to be known as a child of God, you must learn to be a peacemaker.

Jesus said, "God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God." (Matthew 5:9 NLT) Notice Jesus didn't say, "Blessed are the peace lovers," because everyone loves peace. Neither did he say, "Blessed are the peaceable," who are never disturbed by anything. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who work for peace" - those who actively seek to resolve conflict.

So the next time, you are tempted to discard that relationship, remember that God blesses those who actively seek to resolve conflict

Be Generous With your Life

My Mum recently passed on to glory and I have just been reflecting on her life which has inspired this post. Mum lived a good life, she lived long, she not only saw her children's children but her children's children's children. She was filled with many days. She was a loving and lovely mother not just to her immediate children but to a whole lot of children. She was very friendly and loved with a pure and sincere love. She was a giver and had compassion. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. She was generous with her life and her love.

Reading through Facebook comments on my wall, and the wall of my siblings; you can tell that she made her life count for Jesus. She made an impact and affected the lives of those who came in contact with her in a positive manner. We will all miss her dearly but we are consoled in the fact that she is with the Lord Jesus and we will see her again. This one post will not be enough to talk about her life and her impact but this post is just to stir something in our hearts.

What would be said of you when you are gone? How are you affecting the lives of those who you come in contact with? What difference are you making in your environment be it home, school, work or church. The bible says in Matthew 5:16 'In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven' The Message Bible puts it this way 'Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine. Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous father in Heaven.

I love the way The Message bible puts it 'Be generous with your lives'. Let your life make impact, let it count for Jesus, let your work speak for you and let it bring glory to God. Let your love flourish. Love well and appropriately. Let your love be sincere. Live a lover's life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of that will bear fruits and make Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God(Philippians 1:10-13). Let us love not just in words but in deeds. Look around you today, how can you make an impact?

My prayer is that my life will count and make impact for Jesus. How about you?

When the Wheels Come off

You're driving smoothly on the highway and then all of a sudden your wheels come off. Your initial reaction; you're taken off balance, but then you get a hold of yourself, try to pull over, get the car to a secure location and call for assistance or you try to 'DIY'.

In life most times, everything seems to be running smoothly and then all of a sudden 'bam' you're hit with the pressures and storms of life. You're initially taken off balance and for some of us we are able to get a hold of ourselves but for some of us it hits us so hard that we loose our peace, we begin to wallow in self pity, worry, anxiety, fear and all the negatives we can think of. Like the wheels that have come of your vehicle, you just don't go ahead driving because you will cause more danger, or sit looking at the car and asking why oh why instead you make some moves to get your car back up and running.

For me, the past couple of months everything have seemingly been running smoothly and then all of a sudden 'bam' I am hit with these issues that have taken me off balance. Hmmm my initial reaction I am shaken, I am torn. But then like the car, I have taken myself to the secure location, waiting for Help from above. Philippians 4 6-7 says 'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

So for everyone reading this today, have the wheels come off? Have you been hit so bad? Sometimes when you've been hit, you can't find the words to say what exactly it is. You can't even share with those closest to you, what exactly is going on inside of you. Yet on the outside everything looks peaceful, posh and pretty. No one will believe you if you begin to share the pains, the hurt, the disappointments, the fears, the challenges and issues you carry in your heart.

Well my lovelies, like me just get to that secure location but in the this case don't attempt 'DIY' oh lol.

Tell God exactly how you feel, focus on His love, get alone and wait on Him, make some changes where you can and ask God to relieve your fears. Thank Him for the things He has done and you will experience His peace.

August 18th 2009

Tuesday  the 18th of August 2009, started like any other day, I woke up, got dressed and was on my way to work when I saw a missed call from my big sister. I called her back and she asked 'Has anyone called you from home' my heart skipped when I heard that, didn't know what to expect but then she said 'Its Kesiena, he's dead'. I screamed when I heard those words and my husband who was driving almost ran into someone. And I began to ask how? what happened? all the questions I could ask but of course I didn't get any replies.

A few days before then, I had received a call from him and in my manner I was jokingly harassing him for not phoning me on my birthday, but then he was trying to calm me down saying his phone had some problems. As we were talking he said he was having some stomach problems and would call me back, little did I know that would be the last time I would speak to him or ever hear his voice again. I can never forget the pains, the hurt I felt when I knew he had gone for real. For weeks I was inconsolable. I had suffered death before but Kesiena's death was soooooo painful. He was in his prime, so full of life, he had dreams, he had plans and visions he wanted to achieve. And of course his beautiful wife Ego and their lovely daughter Kamsi.

You see Kesiena, Stephen as he was called and I are first cousins; I say 'are' because he still lives in my heart. We practically grew up together, spent most Christmases with the rest of our families together. We had such a strong bond. I cant even begin to explain it or write it all down here. He was a brother, a friend a confidant.

Its 2 years exactly today since he went to be with the Lord and just reading through his group page on facebook I see that Stephen lived a good life and affected everyone he came in contact with in a positive manner. Though we do not understand why he was taken at such a tender age but God knows best. Isaiah 57:1 says The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.

Today as we remember Stephen's life it is a good time for us to reflect on our lives and see if we are on the right track, death is inevitable, so how are we preparing for eternity? what will be said of us? would I make Heaven? At the end of the day everybody's work is going to be tried.

Stephen Kesiena Ossai I miss you so much, forever you'd always be in my heart. You had a heart of gold. You had such an enchanting smile. I thank God for every moment I spent with you. I'd always treasure those times.

I just want to encourage everyone reading this blog today to have eternity at the back of our minds in whatever you do and make your life count.

HEAR HIM FOR YOURSELF

Its been a while since I blogged and I thought I should just share some of the thoughts that have been going through my mind lately.

We are all aware that God deals with us differently. So my thinking is we should never base our convictions or decisions on someone else's testimony. A sister or a brother gives a testimony of how God has blessed him or her and we think that God should bless us that same way and begin to want to take those steps they have taken.

Sweetheart, what works for me will not work for you. Hear God for yourself. It is good to be encouraged by someone else's testimony but let our convictions be based on God.

Recently, I was going to take a step and almost everyone else I knew who had taken this step had not succeeded, but despite all the negatives I heard I still went ahead because I believed God for myself. And to God be the glory I succeeded.

So the next time you're going to take a step or the next time you're going to believe God for something please consult God for yourself. It is very important to seek Godly counsel and advice but as the bible says in Proverbs 20:5 'Counsel in the heart of a man is like deep waters but a man of understanding will draw it out'. Selah
