Humble Yourself

'For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted' Luke 14:11

I read this verse this morning and it got me thinking how prideful some of us are. You see everything we think we are or have received, has been given to us by God. The fact that I may be privileged to have certain talents or be in certain positions does not make me better than the other person.

Which leads me to these questions! How do we treat people who are not as privileged as we are? How do we respond to people who we think are not in our 'class'? Think about Jesus, how did He respond to those who came to Him? The other day I was reading the story about the prostitute who washed His feet with her tears, dried them with her hair and anointed them with her expensive  perfume. He knew who she was yet He accepted her just that way. Jesus was a compassionate man, He never thought highly of Himself. There were no pretenses about Him.

Proverbs 13:7 says 'one person pretends to be rich yet has nothing, another person pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. Have you discovered that this scripture is so true? lol The message translation puts it this way ' A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life.

If we want a full life, let us learn to travel plain and simple.

I personally think that we could avoid a lot of complications in life, even in relationships if we humble ourselves and let God do the lifting. 'Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time' 1 Peter 5:6

Just my thoughts

Eloho.
